YNGWIE MALMSTEEN To Host Show On Swedish National Radio

June 15, 2012

Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen will be the guest host on Swedish national radio Sveriges Radio, the country's most prestigious radio network with over one million listeners.

The radio show "Sommar" has been running every summer since 1959 and is by now a beloved summer tradition revered by Swedish radio listeners. The show is by far the most popular radio show in Sweden. It is considered to be an honor to be asked to host it. Hundreds of well known politicians, authors, athletes, and musicians have made their own "Sommar" show through the years. Previous hosts include ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus, Robyn, music video director Jonas Åkerlund, film director Ingmar Bergman, actors Peter Stormare and Max von Sydow, and the best female golfer of all time, Annika Sorenstam.

Yngwie talked to Sveriges Radio today briefly about his up and coming radio hosting show, which will be aired June 30, on Yngwie's birthday. Listen here.
